Cat Morrison wins St Croix 70.3 Ironman

stealthwideanglePlanet X super women Cat Morrison, riding her Pro Carbon Team Stealth,   has just won the St Croix 70.3 Ironman.  In a stacked field, including two former world champions and lots of top Ironman athletes, Cat won by almost 3 minutes.

Cat swam with the pack, stuck to her plan on the bike and entered into T2 with a 3 minute deficit on former world champ Miranda Cafree.  She then proceded to do the one thing that she does best, run!  She won by almost 3 minutes to take her first win of 2009.  More info at ironman.com at some point and no doubt an update from Cat herself.

thomas2Former Ironman World Champion and new Planet X team signing Thomas Hellreigel had his first taste of life on Planet X with the inaugural Wayne Randle “it wer ard” Boggle hole weekend . He told two stories last night at dinner to my wife and kids, the first about Saturday - he seems to think the PX northern roadies are a strange breed of moor people ?

“first we were a group of 40,
then we were a group of 20,
then we were a group of 10,
then we were a group of 6 and i could not slow down because i didn’t know where I was and was scared to get lost and no-one would find me!
Then we lose 1 more and I say shall we wait and they say fek him, he will find it.

Then i climb over a big hill and leave the other 4 left behind as I begin to roll down the decent they attack past me in the big chain wheel again…the next minute we are racing down the hill and I see the SEA!! I ask if we go wrong they say no we are here…

On the second day up the chimney I have never seen a hill like this before, my bars are pulling my front wheel of the floor, my back wheel is spinning and I am shouting in German never to come to England again. I ride back in the slow group today because it is supposed to be my rest week before I fly to Italy and in the slow group people are losing wheels and the speed is sometimes only 15kmp. I am thinking some people will never make it back.

Then I get to the finish and everyone is laughing to think it was a fun ride…I dont see anything like this before in my career..I have been out with the moor people!!”
